Riga Central Railway Station

Getting around Latvia

  1. As a frequent traveller going often through Riga station I am amazed that the toilets are charged. This should be a free public service. There are so many coffee shops and restaurants, Lido(Yhey should be ashamed) is the main one with no toilet relying on the public toilet in the station, supplying drinks and no toilets it is disgusting.

    1. This is quite a common situation in Europe though, where toilets are charged. It depends on country in general – e.g. in the USA toilets are almost never charged, making it weird for Americans who visit Europe.

      1. I really like Latvia and I care, so it is frustrating when such basic facilities are charged, what can people do if caught short! and no money or time to find it and why is it that other places like Jurmala, Daugavpils even small rural village stations don’t have this problem.
        Why don’t people complain!!.
